Settings That Can be Changed When Processing into a V4.x Database
The FunnelWeb Database in versions 4.x stores the aggregated results of FunnelWeb's processing. Log data is pre-processed, filtered and accumulated before being stored. Since settings are applied before data is added to the database, adding additional logs with different settings may cause the database to become corrupted. For this reason, you need to be careful about changing settings when adding new logs into a a database. Below is a list of settings that we think should be ok to change. Please note that this list is based upon an initial investigation only and whilst every effort is made to ensure its correctness, Quest Software reserves the right to change the information outlined within the list.
Pre Process
It should be ok to alter any of the pre-processing settings.Report
It should be ok to alter any of the report settings.Analysis>Network>Enable lookups
It should be ok to turn on DNS lookups if they are switched off. However, once DNS lookups have been switched on, they cannot be turned off again.Analysis>Network>Passive FTP
It should be ok to alter this setting.Filters
New filters may be added. These will not effect data all ready contained within the database. Only newly added log data will be affected. Filters may be removed. Once again, this will have no effect on data already contained within the database. Only newly added log data will be affected. Keep this in mind if you apply filters to logs being processed into a database.Analysis>Network>Retrieve HTML page titles
It should be ok to alter this setting.Statistics>Statistics>Options (all settings within Options group box)
The set of reports to be generated cannot change. For example, if the Visitors report has been switched on then it must remain switched on throughout the life of the database. Although the set of reports to be generated cannot be changed, their individual report options, such as the number of rows to be displayed, can be changed.Statistics>Global>Graph options (all settings within Graph Options group box)
